2010 Fort Collins Cycling Club “Spring Warm Up Ride”


The "Spring Warm-Up Ride" has been postponed until Sunday, April 25th due to inclement weather.  The start/finish location, routes, times and activities will be the same as was scheduled for Saturday.


The 12th Annual Spring Warm Up Ride will take place on Saturday, April 24, 2010.

This year's ride is to benefit Bicycle and Pedestrian Education Coalition: A community organization to promote cycling and to provide education in safe cycling.
 
Registration will start at 8:30 a.m. for the longer routes of 48 miles and 63 miles and at 9:30 a.m. for the family/beginner ride.  We will meet for registration at Spring Canyon Park Pavilion and return to this location. There is something for everyone at the Spring Warm Up Ride.

48 mile “Prairie Loop Route” -

Enjoy a journey north of Fort Collins in the quiet agricultural area of Larimer County and then the rural roads of Waverly and Wellington, returning to the park for lunch

Metric Century - 63 mile “Rawhide Loop Route” -

Add miles by riding north from Waverly past the Rawhide Power Plant. This route mirrors the 48 mile route until Owl Canyon Rd. You can decide then if you want to try out your legs on the longer route!

There will be two rest stops with refreshments on these rides.

For families and beginners or those just wanting to explore the joys of cycling, there is the ride of approximately 11 miles on the Fort Collins bike trail.

This is a guided ride including a group safety talk and basic bike maintenance check. This ride will be led by experienced cyclists and is intended to support and encourage entry level riders and families.  Ride the beautiful Spring Creek bike trail with a rest stop & refreshments at Spring Creek Park.  Return back to Spring Canyon Park for lunch!

Lunch will be available from 12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Please download the registration form and mail it to the address on the form. If you miss the pre-registration, please still come and join us, but there is a discount for pre-registration and that helps us plan. Also, it expedites the registration process if you complete the registration form and bring it with you. Please join us. It is lots of fun.

Directions to Spring Canyon Park Pavilion Start and Finish (Google Map)

Exit I-25 at Harmony Road and proceed west 4.4 miles.

Turn north on College Avenue and proceed north 2.0 miles.

Turn west on Drake Road and proceed 2.9 miles.

Turn south on Overland Trail.

Overland Trail dead ends at Spring Canyon Park after about ½ mile.

Proceed to the south end of the parking lot and you will see 2 pavilions on the left where registration will be.
